They also keep touting themselves as the Steam killer or the one to take on steam, and while I'll give them to the credit that Steam's been around for 10 years+ now, the real positive thing in my eyes it's done so far was give a very proper revenue split to developers and the store, and I like that, that's good.īut Steam hardly budged, it wasn't some "red alert" that EGS was enough of a creditable threat to them yet. Especially when we're starting to see other console-origin games releasing on multi storefront/platforms Day 1, or even later down see their PC ports. I'm saying EGS (or in this case Epic) has been around for quite the while and this means of "exclusivity" outside of first-party console titles is almost but abolished. Okay, let me reiterate as that was my knee-jerk reaction. I want competition sure but come on, I want to see like a real body blow to steam one of these days. If it's really trying to beat steam, it hasn't won me over yet. Also fuck EGS but that's just my opinion. Going back to the save file topic, depending on the game it will be as easy as not doing anything, as the save file folder will be in a common place like "Documents/My Games/Kingdom Hearts" or "%AppData%\SquareEnix\KH3" for example, or it could be in the games installation directory which you will have to move from the saves folder of one location to the saves folder of the other. I could transfer GTA V files from old and new Rockstar Game Club to the Epic Game Launcher without having to redownload those 60GB or so. Hell, even the game files themself could as well (bear some store related DLLs). Now, unless there's some weird DRM BS coded in those files that needs a specific file or something related to EGS, the save files should be compatible.
You could add it to Steam as a non-Steam game like a desktop shortcut, but you'll most likely need to open EGS launcher.
